Mohamed Bouazizi redefined the use of social media. He turned to social media
in order to inspire Arabs to express their discontent towards their
governments. His initiative led the Arab Spring. Protestors used Twitter, Facebook and YouTube in order to organize protests
and spread the voice.

2010: Google Buzz was
launched by google. User were able to post statuses, pictures, videos among
other forms of media, while having access to their emails.

2011:
Gallup
poll shows that the majority of Facebook and Google users are concern about
their privacy while using such sites. While this might not seem like a key
event to some, however it shows that social media users have become aware of
the power social media have.
